GOP To Use DACA To Bribe Democrats Into Supporting Trump Wall

Democrats and even many Republicans have already been outspoken about President Trump’s plans to end the DACA program. According to sources close to the White House, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is expected to announce the end of the program, with a 6 month delay, sometime this morning. Such an announcement would likely bring many more critics out of the woodwork, and hurt the President’s approval ratings even more.

With that said, several top Republicans have told Politico that there may be a way to keep the DACA program going. That’s if Democrats are willing to agree to the funding of the President’s border wall. With Republicans scurrying to come up with a budget package prior to the September 30 deadline, it’s no wonder that they are using the DACA program and the 800,000 young people it would affect, to bribe Democrats into agreeing fund Trump’s wall.

“I will not give you a pass to be a slight racist on Monday so you can be fully racist on Tuesday,” California Democrat House Representative Eric Swalwell‏ tweeted last night.

While many top Republicans are trying to use DACA as a bargaining chip, fellow Republicans have spoken out against ending DACA altogether.

“We as Americans do not hold children legally accountable for the actions of their parents,” said Senator James Lankford in a statement Monday

The Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan has also said that he favors making DACA law. Clearly the optics of trying to hold the lives of 800,000 young people over the head of Democrats in order to fund what many consider to be an unnecessary southern border wall, is not the greatest for Republicans. With that said, it does seem as if we may be headed for a showdown that encompasses both the wall and DACA by the end of this month.

Let’s hear your thoughts on the Republicans’ offer in the comments section below.
